Sergey Korshunov and Michelle Hafle have been dancing together since March of 2004. They met in Dallas, Texas and soon discovered that they shared the same philosophy and love of Latin dancing. Together they compete nationally and internationally at the world’s most prestigious ballroom events. Currently they are ranked United States Rising Star Latin Finalists.

Since the beginning of their partnership they have been invited to perform at such locations as the Virgin Islands, Cancun, Los Angeles, and many local events in the Dallas area. In 2005 they were spotted by the producers of Dancing with the Stars at a competition in Los Angeles and were later invited to audition for the show. In 2006 the producers of the Good Morning Texas show (WFAA) featured them for a nine-week run as commentators on the third season of Dancing with the Stars. In 2007 Nike hired Sergey to choreograph and perform at one of their exclusive events in Portland, Oregon.

They continue to train out of New York with World Latin Champions Allan Tornsberg and Vibeke Toft. Through their coaching Sergey and Michelle have gained a huge appreciation for the art of Latin dancing, musicality, and the true beauty of lead and follow.

Sergey and Michelle teach at Studio 22 in the North Dallas area where they share their love of dance with students who want to learn the art of partner dancing. Some of their students take their dancing to a competitive level while other students learn to dance socially.

Sergey and Michelle specialize in Cha Cha, Samba, Rumba, Paso Doble, Jive, Swing and Salsa, but they also teach the traditional styles of Waltz, Foxtrot, Tango, Viennese Waltz, Quickstep as well.

About Michelle:

Michelle began her dancing at the age of four when her parents enrolled her is such classes as Jazz, Tap, and Gymnastics. It wasn’t until later in life that she discovered her passion for Latin dancing. While in college, Michelle took several ballroom classes, but once she graduated she immersed herself in the Los Angeles Latin club scene. Through the salsa community she met a studio owner by the name of Enio Cordoba. He invited her to be a part of his dance team where he started to train her in the International Latin style. Michelle continued to dance in the Los Angeles area with different partners. She was involved in several commercials and music videos. She was even hired by ABC Family to be a contestant on a dance reality series, Dance Fever. There she was able to work with Carrie Ann Inaba, Carman Electra and MC Hammer. She also performed at such events as the Los Angeles Salsa Congress and was hired as a permanent dancer for Wayne Foster’s National Entertainment Company.

In 2003 Michelle landed a job opportunity that eventually lead her to Dallas, Texas. Michelle contacted Sergey through an online ballroom dancers network. They met for the first time on March 3, 2004 and she knew instantly that she wanted to continue her dance career with him.

About Sergey:

Sergey began dancing at the age of nine as part of the general education program in St. Petersburg, Russia. He then continued taking lessons after school because he realized that he not only liked the discipline and art of ballroom dancing but the girls were a nice bonus as well. Sergey was trained in both the International Latin style and the Standard Ballroom style. He began competing at age of eleven as an Amateur and eventually in 1998 he gained the title of St. Petersburg Standard Champion in his division and the following year he received an award as the top Latin couple.

Sergey moved to the United States in 2002 with his family. They settled in Dallas, Texas where he turned professional. He immediately began teaching, but ended up taking a two-year hiatus from competing. In March of 2004 Sergey met Michelle and had a tryout, he instantly knew that they were a good match.

Together they have competed all over the US, Canada, and England. In 2006 Sergey and Michelle went to Blackpool, England to compete in the largest dancesport competition in the world. There they placed 28th in the Rising Star Latin Division out of hundreds of couples and in 2007 they placed 58th in the Open Latin division.
